Selim\u2019in m\u00fcbarek gecelerde camilerin kandillerle s\u00fcslenip ayd\u0131nlat\u0131lmas\u0131n\u0131 istemesi ve III. Murad\u2019\u0131n an\u0131lan tezkiresi Schweigger\u2019in \u00e7izimiyle birlikte ele al\u0131nd\u0131\u011f\u0131nda cami ve minareleri kandillerle donatman\u0131n mahya \u015feklinde de olabilece\u011fi ihtimali akla gelmektedir.<br \/>\nBuna g\u00f6re I. Ahmed zaman\u0131nda minareler aras\u0131na ilk mahyay\u0131 kurdu\u011fu rivayet edilen F\u00e2tih Camii m\u00fcezzinlerinden Hattat H\u00e2f\u0131z Ahmed Kefev\u00ee\u2019den \u00f6nce de bu i\u015f i\u00e7in uygun olan Sultan Ahmed Camii\u2019ne ibadete a\u00e7\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131 ilk g\u00fcnlerden beri mahya kuruldu\u011fu d\u00fc\u015f\u00fcn\u00fclebilir.<br \/>\nSel\u00e2tin camileri genellikle iki minareli oldu\u011fundan mahya i\u00e7in uygundular. Ancak aralar\u0131nda Ey\u00fcp Camii gibi minareleri \u00e7ok k\u0131sa olanlar da vard\u0131.<br \/>\nBunlar daha sonra mahya kurulacak h\u00e2le getirilmi\u015ftir.<br \/>\nMahyac\u0131, saraydan g\u00f6nderilen incilerle ye\u015fil veya k\u0131rm\u0131z\u0131 atlas \u00fczerine kuraca\u011f\u0131 mahyan\u0131n k\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck bir \u00f6rne\u011fini \u00e7izer, bu \u00f6rnek be\u011fenilirse kendisine iade edilip ayn\u0131 \u015fekilde kurmas\u0131 istenirdi.<br \/>\nMahyan\u0131n \u00f6nce kareli bir k\u00e2\u011f\u0131t \u00fczerinde iki minare aras\u0131na gerilecek ipi temsil eden yatay bir do\u011frunun alt\u0131na istenilen yaz\u0131 yaz\u0131larak veya tasvir yap\u0131larak bir modeli haz\u0131rlan\u0131r, bu model \u00fczerinde kandillerin as\u0131laca\u011f\u0131 noktalar ve bu noktalardan sark\u0131t\u0131lacak u\u00e7lar\u0131nda kandil bulunan d\u00fc\u015fey iplerin boyu belirlenirdi.<br \/>\nMahyan\u0131n kurulmas\u0131 s\u0131ras\u0131nda ta\u015f\u0131y\u0131c\u0131 ip minareler aras\u0131na gerildikten sonra birbirine olan mesafeleri ve uzunluklar\u0131 \u00f6nceden belirlenen ve bir u\u00e7lar\u0131na bir makara, di\u011fer u\u00e7lar\u0131na kandil ba\u011flanan d\u00fc\u015fey ipler uzun bir ipe tesbit edilerek ta\u015f\u0131y\u0131c\u0131ya bindirilir ve uzun ipin ucu di\u011fer minaredeki bir makaradan ge\u00e7irilip \u00e7ekilmek suretiyle gerginle\u015ftirilirdi.<br \/>\nBu d\u00fczene g\u00f6re hareket ettirilen kandillerin ya\u011f\u0131 her ak\u015fam tazelenir ve ortalama 5 okka zeytinya\u011f\u0131 t\u00fcketilirdi.<br \/>\nOsmanl\u0131 d\u00f6neminin sonlar\u0131nda elektrik ampulleriyle de mahya yap\u0131lm\u0131\u015f, fakat hem eski sanat\u0131 ya\u015fatmak amac\u0131yla hem de ya\u011f kandili kullan\u0131lanlar kadar g\u00fczel olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131 gerek\u00e7esiyle bundan vazge\u00e7ilmi\u015ftir; g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde ise tamam\u0131 elektrik ampulleriyle yap\u0131lmaktad\u0131r.<br \/>\n\u0130stanbul camilerinde kurulan mahyalarda daha ziyade Feth s\u00fbresinin ilk \u00e2yeti, \u201cm\u00e2\u015fallah, teb\u00e2rekellah, bismill\u00e2h, leyle-i Kadir, ho\u015f geldin y\u00e2 ramazan, on bir ay\u0131n sultan\u0131\u201d ve ramazan\u0131n son g\u00fcnlerinde \u201cel-fir\u00e2k\u201d veya \u201celveda\u201d gibi yaz\u0131lar yer al\u0131rd\u0131.<br \/>\nMahya i\u00e7in en uygun yaz\u0131 t\u00fcr\u00fc s\u00fcl\u00fcst\u00fc; resim olarak da tek veya \u00e7ift boru \u00e7i\u00e7e\u011fi, g\u00fcl, fulya, k\u0131z kulesi, kay\u0131k, vapur, k\u00f6\u015fk, f\u0131sk\u0131ye, k\u00f6pr\u00fc, cami, top arabas\u0131, tramvay, ayy\u0131ld\u0131z ve ortadaki bir y\u0131ld\u0131za bakan \u00e7ifte ay gibi motifler kullan\u0131l\u0131rd\u0131. Hekimo\u011flu Ali Pa\u015fa ve D\u00e2vud Pa\u015fa camileri gibi tek minareli b\u00fcy\u00fck camilerde ise bazan \u015ferefe ile kubbe alemi aras\u0131na gerilen iplerle hafif e\u011fimli mahyalar yap\u0131l\u0131rd\u0131.<br \/>\nBu t\u00fcr mahyalarda mesafe k\u0131sa oldu\u011fundan ancak \u201cy\u00e2 gan\u00ee, y\u00e2 Ali\u201d gibi yaz\u0131lara yer verilirdi.<br \/>\nBu sabit mahyalardan ba\u015fka hareketli olanlar da vard\u0131.<br \/>\nBunlar aras\u0131nda en \u00e7ok ilgi \u00e7ekeni, Sultan Abd\u00fclaziz zaman\u0131nda ya\u015fayan ve mahyac\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131 bir sanat haline getiren S\u00fcleymaniye Camii\u2019nin \u00fcnl\u00fc mahyac\u0131s\u0131 Abd\u00fcllatif Efendi\u2019nin kurdu\u011fu \u00fc\u00e7 panodan olu\u015fan mahya idi.<br \/>\nBu panolardan Unkapan\u0131 K\u00f6pr\u00fcs\u00fc ile Azapkap\u0131 Camii\u2019nin resmedildi\u011fi ortadaki sabit, arabalar\u0131n yer ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u00fcst ve bal\u0131klarla kay\u0131klar\u0131n yer ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 alt panolar hareketli idi.<br \/>\nBunlar\u0131n ileri-geri hareket ettirilmesi mahyaya canl\u0131l\u0131k verir, seyri ho\u015f bir g\u00f6r\u00fcnt\u00fc olu\u015ftururdu.<br \/>\nBaz\u0131 b\u00fcy\u00fck camilerde i\u00e7te kubbenin \u00f6n taraf\u0131na, mihrab\u0131n \u00fcst k\u0131sm\u0131na da mahya kurulur ve buna \u201ci\u00e7 mahya\u201d tabir edilirdi.<br \/>\n\u0130stanbul\u2019dan ba\u015fka Edirne ve Bursa\u2019da da mahya gelene\u011fi ya\u015fat\u0131l\u0131rd\u0131.<br \/>\nEdirne\u2019de Beyaz\u0131t, \u00dc\u00e7 \u015eerefeli ve Selimiye camilerinin minarelerine mahya kurulur, tek minareli camilerin minareleri ise k\u00fcl\u00e2h\u0131ndan k\u00fcp\u00fcne kadar yukar\u0131dan a\u015fa\u011f\u0131ya kandillerle donat\u0131larak buna \u201ckaftan giydirme\u201d denilirdi; \u015fehrin Bulgarlar\u2019dan geri al\u0131nd\u0131\u011f\u0131 g\u00fcnlerde Selimiye Camii\u2019nin d\u00f6rt minaresine de kaftan giydirilmi\u015fti.<br \/>\nBazan \u0130stanbul\u2019daki sel\u00e2tin camilerinin minareleri de bu \u015fekilde s\u00fcslenirdi.<br \/>\nMahyalar yaln\u0131z m\u00fcbarek gecelerde ve ramazan ay\u0131nda kurulmazd\u0131.<br \/>\nMesel\u00e2 Sultan Abd\u00fclaziz Avrupa seyahatinden d\u00f6nd\u00fc\u011f\u00fcnde, Hidiv \u0130sm\u00e2il Pa\u015fa, \u0130ran \u015fah\u0131 ve Atat\u00fcrk \u0130stanbul\u2019a geldi\u011finde ho\u015f geldin mahyalar\u0131 ve ayr\u0131ca I. D\u00fcnya Sava\u015f\u0131 y\u0131llar\u0131nda, \u201cHil\u00e2liahmer\u2019i unutma, hubb\u00fc\u2019l-vatan mine\u2019l-\u00eeman, muhacirlere yard\u0131m, muh\u00e2cir\u00eeni unutma\u201d; \u0130stikl\u00e2l Sava\u015f\u0131\u2019ndan sonra, \u201cYa\u015fas\u0131n istikl\u00e2liyet, tayyareyi unutma, ya\u015fas\u0131n gazimiz, ya\u015fas\u0131n m\u00ees\u00e2k-\u0131 mill\u00ee, eyt\u00e2ma yard\u0131m, h\u00e2kimiyet milletindir\u201d; harf ink\u0131l\u00e2b\u0131ndan sonra Latin harfleriyle, \u201c\u0130sraftan sak\u0131n, tayyareye yard\u0131m, yetimleri unutma, yerli mal\u0131 al, him\u00e2ye-i etf\u00e2le yard\u0131m, i\u00e7ki aile d\u00fc\u015fman\u0131d\u0131r, kumar insan\u0131 mahveder\u201d gibi yaz\u0131lar\u0131n yer ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 mahyalar kurulmu\u015ftur.<br \/>\nMahyac\u0131l\u0131k genellikle babadan o\u011fula intikal eden bir meslektir.<br \/>\nAncak Osmanl\u0131 d\u00f6neminde mahyac\u0131 olabilmek i\u00e7in adaylar\u0131n \u015e\u00fbr\u00e2-y\u0131 Evkaf\u2019ta mahyac\u0131lar ve \u015fehrin ileri gelenlerinden bir j\u00fcri \u00f6n\u00fcnde meslekte yeterli bilgiye sahip bulunduklar\u0131n\u0131 ispatlamalar\u0131 gerekiyordu.<br \/>\nMahyac\u0131lar, daha \u00e7ok ramazan ay\u0131nda bir ay \u00e7al\u0131\u015f\u0131p y\u0131l\u0131n geri kalan k\u0131sm\u0131n\u0131 \u00e7\u0131rak yeti\u015ftirerek ge\u00e7irirlerdi;<br \/>\niki minareli camilerde kurulan mahya, genellikle b\u00fcy\u00fck \u015fehirlerde tutundu. Osmanl\u0131 devletinde iki veya daha fazla minareli camileri (selatin camileri) yaln\u0131z sultanlar yapt\u0131rabilirdi.<br \/>\nSadrazamlar, vezirler, devlet ilerigelenleri, zenginler tek minareli camiler yapt\u0131r\u0131rlard\u0131.<br \/>\nMahya gelene\u011fi, daha \u00e7ok Anadolu T\u00fcrkleri aras\u0131nda yay\u0131ld\u0131, tutundu.<br \/>\nMahya kurma, zamanla ayr\u0131 bir sanat niteli\u011fi kazand\u0131.<br \/>\nBu alanda bir\u00e7ok \u00fcnl\u00fc mahyac\u0131 ve mahya ustas\u0131 yeti\u015fti.<br \/>\nS\u00fcleymaniye, Sultanahmet, Yenicami, Ayasofya, Fatih ve \u015eehzadeba\u015f\u0131 camilerinde kurulan mahyalar zamana g\u00f6re bu gelene\u011fin en g\u00fczel, en ba\u015far\u0131l\u0131 eserleri say\u0131l\u0131rd\u0131.<br \/>\nBaz\u0131 b\u00fcy\u00fck camilerin, \u00f6zel olarak bu i\u015fle u\u011fra\u015fan ustalar\u0131 vard\u0131.<br \/>\n\u00d6nceleri mum ve ya\u011f fenerleriyle kurulan mahyalar, camilerin elektrikle ayd\u0131nlat\u0131lmaya ba\u015flanmas\u0131 \u00fcst\u00fcne \u00f6zellikle renkli ampullerle ve yeni yaz\u0131larla d\u00fczenlendi.<br \/>\nEskiden \u00e7ok g\u00fc\u00e7 bir i\u015f olan mahyac\u0131l\u0131k kolayla\u015ft\u0131, bir usta i\u015fi, \u00f6zel bir sanat olmaktan \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131.<br \/>\nBug\u00fcn de, \u00f6zellikle ramazan ay\u0131nda mahya kurma gelene\u011fi s\u00fcrd\u00fcr\u00fclmektedir.<br \/>\nRamazan\u0131n ba\u015flamas\u0131yla birlikte g\u00f6ky\u00fcz\u00fc kandillerle s\u00fcslenirdi. B\u00fct\u00fcn \u0130stanbul ba\u015fl\u0131 ba\u015f\u0131na bir g\u00f6rsel ziyafete tan\u0131kl\u0131k ederdi.<br \/>\nMahya ve mahyac\u0131l\u0131k Osmanl\u0131ya mahsus bir gelenektir ve bu gelenek g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde halen bizde devam etmektedir.<br \/>\nMahya, Osmanl\u0131n\u0131n hayata ve ibadetlere nas\u0131l bir estetik katma endi\u015fesi ya\u015fad\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131n bir g\u00f6stergesidir.
